First of all, you need to think about your level. If your Listening skills are not very good, you lose your voice when people speak to you in English and you forget even easy English words as soon as you start to speak, it is better to forget about the idea to get a foreign or native English teacher for a while.

But if you are brave enough, if you want to move a step forward, if you are eloquent enough and your listening skills are extremely good that means it is the right time to hire a foreign English teacher.

It would be wonderful if this teacher doesn't know your native language. You will break your barriers, will become more independent, start to speak flawlessly, fluently and will avoid making typical mistakes and errors for your native language.

 

Besides, you will be able to pick up some foreign mentality, to learn new culture and traditions, to learn and get accustomed to a new mindset.

 

It is not recommended to start learning English with a foreign teacher from zero level because it may be extremely painful and complicated for you to learn the basics which you would learn with a teacher from your country in no time. However, starting from Pre-Intermediate and higher it is highly recommended to try to communicate only in the learning language.

 

Practice makes perfect. The more you speak in the English language, the faster you would progress. The lesser you speak in English, the slower you would progress. Not only simple grammar exercises or quizzes are efficient and useful, but overcoming your own inability to find a synonym or collocation, improving your skills of asking questions or polite interruption is what you really need.
